Car enthusiasts are gearing up for the 86th Geneva International Motor Show 2016, which starts on 3rd March. The prestigious annual event will offer visitors 11 days of the finest car exhibitions in the world and bring together key players from the global automobile industry. Since Switzerland lacks an auto-industry of its own, the Geneva Motor Show is highly regarded as a level-playing field for carmakers. As such, it’s the perfect place to promote new equipment, technical breakthroughs, innovative discoveries, prototypes and new partnerships.
The show will be held at Palexpo convention centre, conveniently located next to Geneva’s Cointrin International Airport. Last year, the halls of the Palexpo hosted a huge array of brand new luxury cars, such as the sleek Aston Martin DBX, the stylish Hyundai Tucson SUV and the technologically supreme Ferrari 488 GTB. The real highlight of 2015 show’s was the bright yellow Porsche Cayman GT4, with its relatively narrow build being perfect for UK roads. This year’s cars are going to be even more outstanding, with some of the world’s most innovative cars on display, some of which have never been shown before. Expect to see the two-seater, high-performance electric car, Concept One; the Alfa Romeo Giulia; and the debut of the brand new four-seater grand tourer, Ferrari GTC4Lusso.
Rating among the five most important automobile expositions in the world, this is not an event you’ll want to miss. Around 200 exhibitors from 30 countries will occupy the total 77,323 square metres of exhibition space. All of the major manufacturers have confirmed their attendance and 10,000 media representatives from all over the world will also be present. The show is open from 3rd to the 13th March; between 10am and 8pm, Monday to Friday and between 9am-7pm at the weekend. Tickets are priced at 16 CHF for adults and 9 CHF for children, with reduced rates available for groups of more than 20 people. Tickets can also be purchased online or bought on site at 50% discount after 4pm for same day entry.
Stress-free transportation is available with a number of special trains travelling to and from the airport railway station. Alternatively, you could get into the driving spirit with a luxury car rental. There will be 5,600 parking places available during the week and some 10,000 during the weekends, at 12 different parking locations surrounding Palexpo, providing easy access to the Motor Show. The CFF (Swiss Railway Company) will be offering combined travel and entry tickets at discount prices.
The world’s premier motor show continues to grow and attract more high-profile cars and larger audiences year after year. It is sure to provide inspiration for those who aren’t yet ready to take the plunge, but would rather try a luxury car rental before buying their own. Whether you want to network, seek inspiration or just want to be wowed by the best automakers in the world, you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Geneva International Motor Show 2016.
