How to look your best this New Year’s Eve
Many of London’s clubs have strict door policies, but a stylish outfit will boost your chances of partying the night away in one of the city’s top venues.
With a plethora of fantastic bars and nightclubs, London is the perfect place to see in the New Year. Many of London’s best night clubs have strict door policies and gaining entry can sometimes be tricky, particularly for blokes. However, by dressing well you can vastly improve your chances of getting inside any club. Read on for some top style tips that will really help you to look your best this New Year’s Eve.
When it comes to clubbing, choosing the right trousers can be tricky. Jeans always look great, but many of London’s top clubs don’t allow entry if you’re wearing denim. If your club does allow jeans, a black slim fit pair will look both smart and trendy, especially when paired with a classic shirt or T-shirt and blazer combo. If jeans are a no-no, don’t despair – there are plenty of other options out there.
Slim fit chinos are always a good choice, looking smart and stylish without being too formal. If you’re looking for a dressier option, you might want to consider a suit. Avoid the workwear vibe by choosing a bolder colour such as blue and pairing with a casual T-shirt.
Dressing your top half is a little bit easier. You can’t go wrong with a classic oxford shirt which looks great with both jeans and chinos. A white shirt gives a classic look, or you can mix things up a little bit with a pattern or bold colour if you wish. For an edgier look, a denim short works well but again this will depend on the club’s dress policy. If you’re looking for something a bit less formal, a plain white, grey or black T-shirt looks good, especially if the rest of your outfit is relatively smart.
And don’t forget the importance of a good jacket. Topping off your outfit with a nice blazer will instantly polish your look, helping you to look effortlessly stylish. If you’re going to be doing a lot of dancing, make sure you choose a light, breathable material such as a linen blend which won’t get too warm on the dancefloor.
Again this will come down to the dress code of the club. White, slim fit trainers or converse can lend a stylish edge to smarter outfits, but many of London’s clubs don’t allow trainers, so make sure you check in advance. Chelsea boots look great paired with jeans or slim chinos or, for a more formal look, go for leather derby shoes or classic brogues
Do your research
Last but certainly not least, the most important tip we have is to do your research. London clubs can be very picky about the clothes you wear but the policy will vary slightly from venue to venue. So before you spend time and money putting an outfit together, make sure you find out the exact requirements of the club you’re attending. After all, nobody wants to spend hours queueing only to be turned away for wearing the wrong thing. By doing your research and putting some effort into your outfit and appearance, you can be sure of spending New Year’s Eve enjoying London’s legendary nightlife.
