KANE Watches Black Out Black Mesh Review

KANE is a watch manufacturer based in Amsterdam that bases their exquisitely designed timekeeping creations on the popular lifestyle movement of Tokyo known as Essentialism. This basically involves taking away all clutter that is deemed unnecessary from your life, to enable you to focus more fully on the things that are most important to you.

Basically, it means getting the most and best out of less and this is at the core of what KANE Watches offer with their timepieces that offer companies don’t.

I was very kindly sent out the black mesh variation of the popular Black Out watch from KANE Watches in exchange for my honest opinion on it. A modern classic, this most definitely is, here are my personal thoughts and opinions on this masterfully crafted timepiece.

Best Seller With Good Reason

I wasn’t as familiar with the timepieces that KANE Watches are famous for until I was asked to do a review, but it appears the particular watch I was sent is their best seller. When I took it out of the box it is very easy to see why so many people love the Black Out.

The timepiece itself consists of a Citizen Japanese quartz movement and has a decent 39 mm diameter and 7.5 mm thickness. If there was one thing I could say with regards to the design and dimensions is that it is a little thin and too lightweight, but that is more of a personal preference than anything else.

Shower-proof and Scratch Resistant

The forged steel case, as mentioned above, is on the slim case – so if that’s what you like in a watch, this is ideal. What I did appreciate about it was the hardened mineral crystal covering over the watch face, which offers great protection against scratches and the shower proof that measures at 5 ATM water resistance. Perfect for when you are caught in a brisk shower or washing your hand and don’t want to always take the watch off.

Trendy Streetwise Strap

As this takes its inspiration from the street style of the young and trendy of Tokyo, the Milanese metal mesh is a nice addition and surprisingly comfortable. Different from the usual leather or very plain and simple stainless steel style, but in a good way.

If you are forever finding it hard to keep your watch on your wrist or live in an area with a high risk of pickpocketing, the triple lock security buckle is very helpful.

Incredibly Affordable

Considering just how stunning this watch is (I know it is because of the amount of people, whether it is work mates, my girlfriend or relatives that have complimented it), it seems crazy to me that it is available for such a low price. When you compare it to some of the pricier watches on the market, this really shines through the crowd.

Simple, Yet Stunning

Given the aforementioned essentialism that drives the creative process at KANE Watches, if you like a big showy timepiece on your wrist, you probably won’t like the Black Out. Big, bulky and showy this most certainly is not.

However, if you are looking for something more refined and elegant, that still has the ability to draw attention, then the KANE Watches Black Out is a great model to consider.

All in all, I am very happy with the KANE Watches Black Out and it takes pride of place on my wrist and will do for the foreseeable future. It keeps time as well as you’d expect it to, it looks cracking whether I’m dressed smart for work or rocking a more jeans and t-shirt look and aside from the slim design, I’m happy to say I’d recommend it.

Particularly if you are looking for a mid-priced watch with the features and design aesthetics of a more expensive timepiece.
