The new SS12 collection has 3 core themes behind it, firstly The Surf inspired look is going to be big for summer 2012 and Lyle and Scott have looked back to the surf culture of the 1970s and took inspiration from their laid back attitude.
Secondly they drew on the retro utility and military look. Military uniform has influenced modern day design and clothing more than we may realise. This element of the collection draws on the details of the originals and revives them for a modern generation. Look out for Rain Camouflage, chambray work shirts and industrial inspired parkas.
Finally, the preppy look is set to stay for the next few seasons. The Lyle & Scott SS12 offering draws on Casual roots and combines these with classic Americana preppy details for a modern take on all the retro favourites. Look out for collegiate crew necks and baseball style bomber jackets as key pieces.
Letterman Sweater
With its bold, varsity style lettering across the chest, the new Lyle and Scott letterman sweater takes its style cue from the ivy league.
